Utility-sponsored conservation program

The term 'Utility-sponsored conservation program' as it applies to the area of energy can be defined as ' Any program sponsored by an electric and/or natural gas utility to review equipment and construction features in buildings and advise on ways to increase the energy efficiency of buildings. Also included are utility-sponsored programs to encourage the use of more energy-efficient equipment. Included are programs to improve the energy efficiency in the lighting system or building equipment or the thermal efficiency of the building shell. Also see Demand-side management'.
